Petanque at Chestfield Cricket Club

Petanque at Chestfield Cricket Club

The sport of petanque, or boule, is also played at the cricket club. A three-lane piste was kindly gifted to the club by Chestfield Parish Council as a community facility open to and for use by all Chestfield residents.

The pistes are open all the time, just use the pedestrian gate at the front of the ground if the main gate is locked. There is free use of the Pavilion during its opening times and access to the bar and toilets. There is a storage bench by the pistes with some basic equipment to borrow.

The only restrictions are when local league teams practice and play games at the following times, though people are very welcome to come and spectate:

Most Tuesday evenings between April and September when The Whitstable Grattons play league.

Most Thursday evenings between April and September when Chestfield Petanque Team plays league.

Do check with the league contacts below about fixtures.

Additionally, the pistes are not available on Sundays 9.30am-2pm as this is the time The Whitstable Grattons train. However, if anyone is interested in playing seriously and perhaps getting involved in a league team, do contact The Grattons (see below).

Meet the Teams

The Whitstable Grattons are playing their second year in the East Kent Coastal Petanque League. In the 2021 season they won the third division, and so their A team is playing in the second division for the 2022 season. They also have a B team playing the third division. They play league on a Tuesday evening.
